Mark Denholm, BA, Hons

Since MacLellan & Moffatt Group Consultants’ inception, Mark has been providing benefit and pension solutions to Atlantic Canadian companies. Originally from Edinburgh, Scotland, Mark obtained an honours degree in Financial Services before immigrating to Nova Scotia. Mark participates in advisory councils with major insurance carriers and strives to provide objective advice and sustainable value to his clients. Today, Mark resides in Truro with his wife Meaghan and their two boys, Rory and Finley.

Garfield I. Moffatt CFP, CLU

Benefits Consultant, Partner

“Gar” is an investment funds advisor with Assante Financial Management Ltd. He joined the financial planning community over 16 years ago and has specialised in areas including corporate insurance, retirement income planning, and income replacement planning. Through participation in industry associations like The Financial Advisors Association of Canada (ADVOCIS) and the Assante President’s Advisory Council, he strives to learn and apply lessons from industry leaders across the country.

Patty McDonald

Benefits Consultant, Partner

Patty brings over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry to MMGC. Before joining us in 2013, she spent five years with a major national insurance company and 15 years with a regional independent benefits consulting firm. With an emphasis on client service, Patty’s dedicated to adding value to clients by establishing long-lasting relationships. Outside of the office, Patty plays an active role in her community as a volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Angela Smith, BBA

Group Benefits Coordinator

Angela has been with our parent company, MacLellan & Moffatt Financial, for over 15 years and is both life and mutual fund licensed. Angela transitioned into group consulting in 2012 when she began assisting with client reporting, renewal preparation, new contracting, and group-related inquiries. Her experience, dedication, and work ethic make a valuable addition to the MMGC team.

Christine Lardner

Group Benefits Coordinator

Previously a Sales and Service Coordinator at Benefits Experts, Christine brings over 30 years of client service and sales experience and six years of insurance industry experience to MMGC. A Nova Scotia native, Christine lives in Dartmouth with her husband Mark. She loves to spend time with her family and feels fortunate to have her two children and grandchildren living nearby.

Connor Morrison

Benefits Consultant

As a Group Benefits Associate, Connor’s roll at MMGC is to provide enhanced support services to our group clients. Born and raised in the Halifax area, Connor attended Acadia University in the Annapolis Valley where he played hockey at the junior level.

Serving as a Group Benefits Consultant, Connor’s roll as part of the MMGC team is to provide enhanced support services to the group clients of MMGC. Connor is continuing his education by working on his Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation which will help him develop additional expertise of the Group Benefits and Pension marketplace. Being a service focused advisor whose attention to detail and commitment to our client’s needs makes him a valued member of our MMGC Team.

Christine Tanner

Group Benefits Coordinator

Christine brings her knowledge of plan administration and customer service to MMGC.  She has worked with many insurance providers and has a strong working knowledge of group policy renewals, invoice reconciliation, initial employee enrollments and plan set up.  She has spent most of her career working as a HR Generalist.  Prior to coming to MMGC, she worked for a manufacturing company for over 30 years as their HR Manager.  Christine’s most recent role was working for a broadcasting company as their Payroll & Benefits Administrator.  Christine prides herself on her work ethic, confidentiality, and passion to help others.  She is a graduate of Saint Mary’s University with a Certificate in Human Resource Management and a volunteer with the Halifax Partnership – Connector Program.  Christine currently resides in Dartmouth with her husband John.

Barry Bransfield

Benefits & Retirement Advisor

Barry joined MMGC is February of 2022, bringing with him 3 decades of experience in the Pension and Benefits industry.  During his most recent 23 year stint with a major life insurance carrier, Barry was responsible for developing and maintaining the retirement practice for Atlantic Canada, and will be using those skills to manage and develop the pension practice at MMGC.

Barry is a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University with a Bachelor of Business Administration and holds his Life Insurance License as well as has successfully completed the Canadian Investment Funds Course through the Investment Funds Institute of Canada (IFIC).

Brittany Stewart

Group Benefits Co-ordinator

Brittany recently joined MMGC, bringing with her years of experience in the customer service industry.  She is looking forward to helping the team meet the needs of our clients with strong communication, customer service and administrative skills.

Brittany is a graduate of NSCC, with a diploma in Office Administration.

Outside the office Brittany enjoys family time with her husband Arnold and their two sons.
